Our Green Policy
At warrantyworks we are genuinely interested in green issues
and our directors have been involved in green issues since the
1970’s.
During the 1970’s our managing director Andrew Greenough worked
with a recycling company (Reclamat Limited) that was recycling
waste plastic into building materials and he recalls that they
were recycling 20 years before it became fashionable. Since the
1990’s he has been actively involved with running an organic
farm in North Wales and possible future projects involve green
power generation from water and wind power and the recycling of
timber waste from the farm.
In the 1990’s car pollution was starting to be recognised as
a serious issue and there was a practical problem as manufacturers
would not approve of LPG conversions and green customers who had
cars converted found manufacturers unwilling to honour their
warranties. To alleviate this problem Stuart Haskell our
Operations Manager worked with UK Ministry of Transport to
develop a warranty for LPG conversions, making a huge
contribution to the greening of the UK car fleet.
At warrantyworks we see vehicle warranties as being a practical
way of greening UK cars-
Whilst cars can never be totally green, we work in practical
ways to reduce their pollution costs, we understand a cars
pollution cost breaks down into three areas:-
- Manufacture
- Normal day to day running
- Recycling
Practically we can do nothing about Manufacture and Recycling
but we aim to make a significant contribution to the environmental
costs of running a car. We simply aim to prolong the working life
of a car; by
- Encouraging owners to have their cars properly maintained and
- Repairing cars that otherwise might be scrapped, or that might
be operated in an environmentally inefficient way.
A long life car operates at lower CO2 & NOx costs per mile as
manufacturing and recycling costs form a lower percentage of the
running costs. And we see second hand cars as being fundamentally
greener than new ones, so we seek to discourage owners from
- Treating cars as disposable consumer items
- Unnecessary driving
Together we can help to make the roads a greener space.
